Cooks Bay Villas takes every step to ensure we are caring for the environment, you can help us do this by:
- Conserving water and electricity during your stay, and
- Recycling
Cooks Bay Villas is applying for Earth Check certification – therefore waste, recycling, and sewage is very important to us.
Recycling 3 - light green bins & General rubbish 1 - dark green bin.
Cooks Bay Villas require all in-house guests to utilize the allocated bins on the far west side near the road – you are required to isolate all plastic/aluminum/glass in (light green bins) & general rubbish in (dark green bin).
Our Septic Effluent System is world class
Our system can be explained by Simon.
The bulk of the effluent goes in to the septic tank by the road (away from the lagoon), which has 3 aerating, stirring and filtering systems and chambers, and then distributes the clean water in to the gardens.
You will notice the 40cm square drains along the side of Villas 2 and 4. These are a New Zealand invention called a Water Lily, and are mini septic tanks which recycle the grey water and trickle in to the gardens. Solid sludge then goes in to the main septic tank.
